The Ross Island is now renamed as the "Netaji Shubash Chandra Bose Dweep" by prime minister Narendra Modi in 2018. It is a very small destination that comes under the south Andaman district, Port Blair and is barely 5 Kms from the Water Sports Complex, making it one of easiest inter-island to visit during your trip to Andaman’s. Although most of the attractions in Andaman are famous for beaches and, Ross Island brings a bit of history to the table that makes your vacation complete.
This Island was first occupied in 1782 and a sanatorium was build there and then again in 1857 by the British who used it as a Administrative Headquarters for 85 years. During this time, a lot of important government offices were made by the British on this penal settlement, which were later abandoned after an earthquake in 1941. Magnificent man-caves, the old church and grim history associated with this place gives out a unique vibe that can’t be found anywhere else in Andaman and Nicobar.
The whole experience is even more mesmerizing with its protected forest which is a sanctuary of a variety of birds and animals including peacocks and deer, that present an amazing experience for people who love to walk around and enjoy their time in the lap of nature under the shade of tall tropical trees.

To the north of Port Blair and only a 45-minute ride from Aberdeen Jetty, North Bay Island is a convenient option for the hurried tourist. The beach is home to the lighthouse which features on the reverse of the Rs. 20 note. The lighthouse rewards anyone who braves the tough climb up with a spectacular view of the nearby islands of Ross Island and Port Blair skyline in the expanse of brilliantly sparkling waters. North Bay Beach also offers a variety of water sports and adventure activities which include glass boat rides, Sea Walking, Scuba Diving, and Snorkeling. The shallow water here makes for some quality coral viewing. Several companies offer dives at North Bay (duration of around 40 minutes each), with complimentary underwater photographs loaded to your mobile phone.A visit to North Bay Island can consume about half of your day. It is advisable to carry something to munch on, though snacks (a few run-of-the-mill Chinese dishes, and pakodas) and beverages (tea and coffee) are available on the beach. Baratang Island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are located between the Middle and South Andaman Islands. While Andaman being a beach destination brings thought of Blues and sands coming in your album with your trip memories, here adding Baratang to the travel itinerary can come out to be very fascinating for travelers who want to see the greener version of Andaman. Baratang is the home to the Jarawa tribes who are the major inhabitants of this island following the few Ranchi settlers. The major attractions at Baratang are The Limestone Caves and Mud Volcano. There is another delightful place to see in Baratang that is Parrot Island. After passing through the tribal reserve you would reach Nilambur Jetty. You would then be transferred to a vehicle ferry, which would take you to Baratang Island. These ferries can accommodate buses, trucks, cars & bikes and the passengers too, to cross the waters between Nilambur Jetty at Middle Strait and Baratang.,A short ride from the Nilambur jetty and another 160m walk up a rocky path are what it takes to reach the mud volcanoes. These small muddy craters are created by natural gases emitted by decaying organic matter underground that push mud upwards. Please note that this is not a visually stunning sight, as most of the time there is just a pile of dried or small bubbling puddles of mud. However, Andaman is one of the few places in the world where these Volcanoes are found and you may thus want to give it a visit. Eleven mud volcanoes have been reported in the Andaman group of islands, of which eight are located in Baratang and Middle Andaman. The other three you can find in North Andaman.
